During the First World War, William Richard Bird, a corporal in the Canadian 42nd Battalion, found a corroded old sword in the mud and clay that had been freshly churned up by the bombardment of Amiens, France. No one knew exactly how it had gotten there or to whom it had once belonged, but they did determine that it was a Roman gladius that dated back 2000 years to the time of Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars. This true story is filled with adventure, ghostly tales, honor, family, and the strong bond of brotherhood that reaches across two millennia. Paperback, 82 pages. Written and illustrated by Scotty Roberts.
